Who will WIN this matchup?
Tennessee Titans (2-3)
@ Denver Broncos (1-4)
Current odds:
Tennessee Titans: (+105)
Denver Broncos: (-125)
• The line for this game is Denver by 1.5 points.
• The Denver Broncos reached a milestone by finally recording their first victory of the season last week and look to make it back-to-back wins on Sunday as they host the Tennessee Titans. Denver got out to a 17-point lead last Sunday and held on for a 20-13 road triumph over the Los Angeles Chargers. It was the 500th win in franchise history for the Broncos, who endured three one-score setbacks while losing their first four games of the season. Denver did much of its damage on the ground as Phillip Lindsay hit the century mark for the first time this year by rushing for 114 yards and a touchdown while Royce Freeman gained 61 as Joe Flacco passed for only 182 yards.
• Tennessee is coming off another rough offensive outing, a 14-7 home loss to Buffalo that marked the second time in three games it scored just seven points. The Titans, who have recorded both of their wins this year on the road, failed on four field-goal attempts, prompting a change at the kicker position during the week.
• Marcus Mariota has yet to throw an interception this season and could extend that streak as he faces a defense that did not force a turnover over its first four games before recording three last week. Mariota is the only quarterback in the league that has started each of his team’s contests and not had a giveaway. Wide receiver A.J. Brown ranks second among AFC rookies with 250 receiving yards and is tied for second with two touchdown catches.
• Lindsay registered a season-high 147 scrimmage yards in the win over the Chargers as he made four catches for 33 yards, but he understands he needs to have more rushing performances like last week’s in order for the team to succeed. “We’re going to have to run the ball to win games, and as you get going later on as it gets colder, you have to run the ball,” he told the team’s website. “In the playoffs, you have to be able to run the ball. Everybody knows that. There’s no secret.” Lindsay (469) and Freeman (353) are the only pair of teammates in the league this season with at least 350 scrimmage yards apiece.
• The Broncos placed De’Vante Bausby (neck) on injured reserve and signed fellow CB Coty Sensabaugh.
• The Titans signed RB Rod Smith and K Cody Parkey, added RB Dalyn Dawkins from the practice squad and released K Cairo Santos and OLs Hroniss Grasu and David Quessenberry, who was signed to the practice squad.
• Denver rolled to a 51-28 victory in its last home meeting with Tennessee on Dec. 8, 2013.
