• The magic at T-Mobile Arena appears to have worn off in the third season for the Vegas Golden Knights, who are treading water on their home ice with a 7-6-3 mark. The Golden Knights, who dipped from 29 wins in their expansion season at T-Mobile to 24 in 2018-19, look to avenge last month’s home loss to Chicago when the Blackhawks visit on Tuesday night. After earning five of six points during a three-game road trip to the East Coast, Vegas suffered a 5-0 beating to a New York Rangers team that it handled by a 4-1 count six days earlier. “We’ve got another game in a couple days,” defenseman Deryk Engelland said after the Golden Knights were shut out for the first time in 53 games. “We’ve got to rebound and get ready for that one.”
• Chicago had lost all seven meetings with Vegas before erasing a two-goal deficit in a 5-3 victory on Nov. 13, but it has lost seven of its last 10 overall (3-5-2). “It is important how we respond,” coach Jeremy Colliton said after Sunday’s shootout loss to Arizona. “Because we’ve had this up and down with our game and we can’t expect to get where we want to go if that continues.”
• Patrick Kane has at least one point in 18 of his last 19 games, including a goal and a pair of assists last month versus Vegas and has eight points in as many career meetings against the Golden Knights. Dylan Strome matched Kane by scoring a goal and setting up two others last month. Alex DeBrincat, a 41-goal scorer last season, responded to a 12-game goal drought by scoring in each of his last three contests and has tallied three times to go with four assists in eight matchups versus Vegas.
• Offense, or a lack of, has been the biggest issue of late at home for Vegas, which has scored four regulation goals in its last four at T-Mobile. “I think teams are coming in here and playing hard because they know it’s such a tough building to play in,” forward Ryan Reaves said. “We’re getting teams’ best and sometimes we might not be mentally prepared for the push they’re coming with.” Marc-Andre Fleury could be back in net after backup Malcolm Subban started the last seven games.
• Golden Knights F Cody Glass has been ruled out Tuesday after taking an elbow to the head in Sunday’s loss.
• The Blackhawks recalled Fs Adam Boqvist and Matthew Highmore from Rockford of the American Hockey League.
• Vegas recalled F Valentin Zykov from the Chicago Wolves of the AHL.
