The Boston Bruins have enjoyed season-long dominance to put themselves on the cusp of becoming the first NHL team to reach triple digits in points. The Bruins’ missteps have been rare, and they look to prevent a third at the expense of the white-hot Flyers on Tuesday when the teams conclude their season series in Philadelphia. David Pastrnak extended his point streak to five games (three goals, three assists) by scoring his career-best 48th goal in Boston’s 5-3 setback to Tampa Bay on Saturday. While Pastrnak scored in the Bruins’ 6-5 shootout loss at Philadelphia on Jan. 13, the game is best remembered for Brad Marchand overskating the puck in what proved to be the final round to end the game.

That victory sparked a scintillating 18-4-3 run for the Flyers, who have won a season-best nine in a row overall and seven straight at home following Saturday’s 3-1 win over Buffalo. Carter Hart has played a significant role in Philadelphia’s ascent in the Metropolitan Division, posting a 9-1-0 record in 10 starts since returning from injury and a 20-2-2 mark at home this season.

Boston is beat up on the back end, so much so that coach Bruce Cassidy wasted little time in ruling out defensemen Torey Krug and Brandon Carlo with upper-body injuries for Tuesday’s contest while naming Connor Clifton as a replacement. “Torey went into the boards awkwardly with (Lightning forward Alex) Killorn the other night, so there’s a little residual effect of that,” Cassidy said on Monday. “So he’ll be day-to-day as well as Brandon.” Carlo will miss his second straight game after he was on the receiving end of an elbow from Florida forward Evgenii Dadonov in Thursday’s 2-1 overtime victory over the Panthers.

Shayne Gostisbehere may draw back in the lineup for the first time since Feb. 2 should fellow defenseman Philippe Myers be unable to play on Tuesday. Myers’ leg was on the business end of a shot from Sabres captain Jack Eichel, resulting in a bruise for the defenseman and uncertainty for the Philadelphia coaching staff — with bench boss Alain Vigneault telling reporters that the club will have a better idea on Tuesday morning. “I’m ready to go, just waiting for my opportunity,” said Gostisbehere, who practiced with Justin Braun on Monday. “I don’t know what’s going on with (Myers) but yeah, I’m ready.”

Philadelphia RW Jakub Voracek set up a pair of goals against Buffalo to give him 10 of his club-best 44 assists during his last five games.

Marchand has collected five goals and 12 assists during his 12-game point streak.

Philadelphia C Travis Konecny, who leads the team in goals (24) and points (61), has one and three, respectively, in two meetings with Boston.
