Cahill gave up four runs in six innings while losing his first start to Oakland as four of the six hits were for extra bases (two homers, one triple and one double). The 31-year-old didn’t allow multiple homers in any of his 20 starts in 2018 when he served up eight in 110 innings over 21 appearances as a member of the Athletics. Cahill is 5-4 with a 3.40 ERA in 14 career starts against Seattle and has struggled with Dee Gordon (7-for-20, two doubles).

Gonzales allowed three earned runs with four strikeouts and one walk in each of his first two starts. The 27-year-old allowed 16 hits over 11 1/3 innings during the outings but managed to defeat both Oakland and Boston. Gonzales went 3-0 with a 3.34 ERA in six starts versus the Angels last season and has struggled with Trout (8-for-17, one homer) while shutting down Albert Pujols (2-for-17) in eight career starts.

Los Angeles DH Shohei Ohtani (elbow) took batting practice and played catch on Monday and manager Brad Ausmus said it hasn’t been decided whether the two-way player will go on a rehab assignment prior to his expected May return.

Mariners SS Tim Beckham, who was named American League Player of the Week, had a two-run double on Monday and is batting .423 with three homers and eight RBIs.
