• The Milwaukee Brewers got their National League Central title defense off to a solid start, and they’ll try to keep up the momentum against another division rival when they travel to face the Cincinnati Reds for a three-game series starting Monday. The Brewers took three of four from visiting St. Louis over the weekend, including a 5-4 victory Sunday on Christian Yelich’s two-run, walk-off double. Milwaukee slugged nine home runs in the opening series, including one in each game from Yelich. Now the Brewers head to a homer-friendly ballpark to face a Reds team they beat 13 times in 19 meetings last season.

• The Reds split a pair of games with visiting Pittsburgh over the weekend after being blanked 5-0 on Sunday. Cincinnati had as many errors (four) as hits in the series finale.

• After a breakout season in 2017, Davies took a step back last season as he battled injuries. The 26-year-old earned a rotation spot with a solid spring – save for one disastrous outing in which he made an ill-fated mechanical tweak to his delivery. Davies is 3-3 with a 3.29 ERA in 10 starts against the Reds.

• Roark gets a change of scenery after spending his first six major-league seasons in Washington, where he had mixed results. He won 15 games in 2014 and 16 in 2016, posting sub-3.00 ERAs both years, but had his share of struggles the past two seasons. The 32-year-old has enjoyed pitching in his new home park, where he is 2-0 with a 3.27 ERA in four career starts.

• Yelich is the sixth player in MLB history to homer in each of his team’s first four games and the first since Colorado’s Trevor Story in 2016.

• Reds 1B Joey Votto is 9-for-23 with a homer versus Davies.

• Four Cincinnati starters – OFs Scott Schebler, Yasiel Puig and Matt Kemp and 3B Eugenio Suarez – are hitless through two games.
