• Reigning MVP Christian Yelich finally went without a home run, but still found a way to lead the Milwaukee Brewers to a win. Yelich and the Brewers seek their fourth straight victory when they continue a three-game series at the Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday. After homering in each of the first four games of the season, Yelich was kept in the park in Monday’s series opener but he doubled and scored the go-ahead run on Ryan Braun’s double in the top of the ninth inning as Milwaukee became the first team in the National League with four wins. Braun had a pair of doubles and also scored a run while Jesus Aguilar drove in a pair for the Brewers, who are 8-3 in Cincinnati over the last two seasons.

• Right fielder Yasiel Puig recorded his first hit in a Reds uniform after an 0-for-8 start, knocking in two runs with a double in the fifth. He and his teammates will try to get the bats going Tuesday against Milwaukee starter Jhoulys Chacin, who squares off with fellow right-hander Anthony DeSclafani.

• Chacin gave up three runs and three hits with seven strikeouts over 5 1/3 innings to get the win against St. Louis on Opening Day. The Venezuela native is 2-3 with a 3.86 ERA in 10 games – eight starts – in his career against Cincinnati. Joey Votto is batting .333 with a pair of home runs in his career versus Chacin, who is winless in five career starts at Great American Ball Park.

• DeSclafani had some strong stretches in 2018 after missing all of the previous season due to an elbow issue, but he faded late and was 0-4 with a 6.75 ERA in six September starts. One of those outings involved five innings of four-run ball and a loss at Milwaukee, leaving the 28-year-old with a 4.91 ERA in eight career matchups with the Brewers. Yelich is 6-for-12 with two homers, two doubles and a walk against DeSclafani.

• Yelich’s streak of four straight games with a homer to start the season tied the major league record previously accomplished by five others.

• The Reds announced that 2017 No. 2 overall pick Hunter Greene will undergo Tommy John surgery.

• Brewers LHP Josh Hader is 3-for-3 in save opportunities while recording eight strikeouts in four scoreless innings.
