• The Los Angeles Dodgers are easily on pace to enjoy the best home record in the club’s rich history, and they owe plenty of their success in Dodger Stadium to their ability to come up big late in games. Los Angeles puts its five-game winning streak on the line Friday when it opens a three-game set against the visiting Arizona Diamondbacks. The Dodgers (77-40) were down to their last strike Wednesday when Russell Martin delivered a walk-off two-run single to complete a three-game sweep of St. Louis and run their home record to a majors-best 46-15 – a mark that includes 10 walk-off wins (five shy of tying the team record set in 1974). “It just seems like every day, there’s somebody different that you’re pouring Gatorade on. It’s really good to see. It’s great for our ballclub – a testament to their desire, their will to play 27 outs,” Los Angeles manager Dave Roberts told reporters afterward.

• Arizona is no stranger to Los Angeles’ ability to snatch victory from the jaws of potential defeat, dropping five of six in Dodger Stadium this season – the last two of which came via walk-off hits. The Diamondbacks won for the fourth time in five games Wednesday, leaving them 1 1/2 games out of the National League wild-card chase entering Thursday’s day off following series wins against two of the teams ahead of them (Washington and Philadelphia).

• Ray has shown better control lately with only two walks over his last four starts and he’s won three times over that span, including Saturday against Washington despite permitting four runs over five innings. The former 12th-round pick ranks fourth in the NL in free passes (58) despite his recent command prowess, while his most recent outing ended an 11-game streak in which he surrendered at least one home run. Corey Seager (4-for-27, 14 strikeouts) has struggled against Ray, who is 3-2 with a 2.13 ERA in nine career starts at Dodger Stadium.

• Buehler gave up an eighth-inning solo homer to Manuel Margot but was otherwise masterful while tossing his second complete game of the season Saturday against San Diego. The 25-year-old settled for a five-hitter and struck out 15 – one shy of his career high – to run his home record to 5-0 to go along with a 2.54 ERA in 10 turns. Buehler fanned nine in seven frames but did not factor into the decision in Los Angeles on July 3 versus the Diamondbacks after yielding three runs on nine hits.

• The Dodgers need to win at least 12 of their final 20 games in Chavez Ravine to set the club record for their most home wins since arriving from Brooklyn in 1958.

• Arizona 3B Eduardo Escobar leads the majors entering Thursday with a career-high 93 RBIs, including 12 in his last five contests.

• Los Angeles is 65-25 when it hits at least one home run, although it managed to win back-to-back games against St. Louis on Tuesday and Wednesday without one.
