• The Los Angeles Dodgers showed the Chicago Cubs over the weekend why they own the best home record in the major leagues. They attempt to demonstrate the same thing to the San Francisco Giants when they continue their 11-game homestand with the opener of a four-game series against their National League West rivals on Monday. Los Angeles took three of four from Chicago after posting a 3-2 victory on Sunday that improved its overall home record to 28-8. Cody Bellinger led off the sixth inning with his 23rd homer of the year to forge a tie and Russell Martin snapped it two frames later with an RBI single as the Dodgers avoided suffering back-to-back home losses for just the second time this season (April 12 and 13 versus Milwaukee).

• San Francisco is coming off its first winning homestand of the season as it finished at 5-3 after Sunday’s 5-3 loss to Milwaukee. Kevin Pillar is in the midst of a stretch during which he has recorded at least one hit (seven), RBI (five) and run (five) in each of his last four contests.

• Beede makes his seventh career start – and fifth this season – as he seeks his first major-league victory. The 26-year-old native of Massachusetts is coming off a no-decision against San Diego on Tuesday in which he surrendered four runs and five hits over 4 2/3 innings. Beede will be facing Los Angeles for the first time.

• Maeda ended May with four consecutive victories but has yet to win this month, going 0-1 while yielding six runs over 9 1/3 innings in two starts. Both of those turns came on the road, where the 31-year-old native of Japan has posted a 2-3 record and 5.67 ERA as opposed to a 5-0 mark and 1.69 ERA in five outings at home. Maeda is 4-3 with a 4.04 ERA in eight starts and four relief appearances against the Giants in his career, including a no-decision at San Francisco on April 29 in which he scattered seven hits over five scoreless innings.

• Giants INF Pablo Sandoval has gone 5-for-12 with a homer, three RBIs and two runs over his last three games.

• Bellinger is tied for second in the NL with 58 RBIs but failed to drive in a run in 10 of his first 12 contests this month before going deep on Sunday.

• San Francisco 1B Brandon Belt looks to begin a new on-base streak as he went 0-for-3 with a sacrifice fly on Sunday to end his 18-game run.
