• Like many of his Colorado Rockies teammates, Trevor Story struggled offensively in the early days of the season, but he has found his form entering Saturday’s middle contest of a three-game series at the Atlanta Braves. The Rockies shortstop extended his hitting streak to a career-best 14 games in Friday’s 8-4 victory, going 2-for-5 with a homer, a double and two runs scored in his sixth multi-hit game during his streak as Colorado won for the ninth time in 11 games. Hammering Atlanta pitching is nothing new for Story, who in 24 career games against the Braves is batting .369 with 12 homers, 26 RBIs and 26 runs scored, and his efforts Friday helped Colorado score seven or more runs while collecting 10-plus hits for the third time in its past four games.

• The Braves fell for the seventh time in their past 10 games, and the combination of lack of production with runners on base and shaky relief pitching continues to be an issue. Atlanta pitchers have allowed five or more runs five times in the past seven games, while Braves hitters are 4-for-41 with runners in scoring position and have left 32 runners on base in their past four contests. Atlanta catcher Tyler Flowers homered twice – the third multi-homer game of his career – and finished 4-for-4 in Friday’s loss, raising his average to .378 with a 1.062 OPS in 13 games this season.

• Gray has rebounded from a shaky beginning to the season with three excellent starts in a row, winning his past two outings. The 27-year-old has surrendered only two runs on 10 hits across 19 2/3 innings in his past three games, beating Philadelphia on Sunday by allowing two hits with four walks and five strikeouts in six shutout innings. Gray, who has held opponents to a .213 average in 32 1/3 innings, is 3-0 with a 1.64 ERA and 1.06 WHIP in five career starts against Atlanta.

• Foltynewicz makes his season debut after only pitching two innings in spring training due to right elbow soreness. The 27-year-old, who made the All-Star team while helping pitch the Braves to the National League East title in 2018, posted a 6.11 ERA while going 1-1 in four minor-league rehab starts for Triple-A Gwinnett. Foltynewicz, who finished eighth in NL Cy Young award voting while placing sixth in strikeouts (202) and ERA, is 0-4 with a 4.11 ERA in eight career games (six starts) against the Rockies.

• Atlanta LHP Jesse Biddle gave up three runs in the eighth inning Friday, and in his past six games has surrendered six runs (two earned) on five hits with eight walks over 2 2/3 innings.

• Rockies 3B Nolan Arenado homered and doubled Friday, finishing with two runs scored and two RBIs, and has hit safely in eight of his past 10 games.

• Braves 1B Freddie Freeman has reached base 49 times this season, six away from the franchise record – by the end of April – that he set last season (55).
