• The Minnesota Twins aim to pick up the pieces after answering a sterling 9-2 stretch with losses in five of their last six contests, including three of four to their closest division rival. The Twins will look to get back on track Tuesday when they open an abbreviated two-game interleague series against the host Milwaukee Brewers.  Marwin Gonzalez’s RBI double highlighted Minnesota’s two-run rally in the ninth inning before Carlos Santana countered with a grand slam in the 10th in Sunday’s 7-3 setback to Cleveland. Gonzalez has registered multi-hit performances in consecutive contests while Luis Arraez has five in his last eight for the Twins, who split a two-game series against Milwaukee in May and own a 6-9 mark in interleague play this season.

• The Brewers’ 6-10 record in such games likely isn’t turning any heads, but the club had re-established itself as a contender in the National League Central by winning five in a row overall before dropping a 1-0 decision to Texas on Sunday. Reigning NL MVP Christian Yelich, who went 0-for-6 in the previous series against Minnesota, has missed five straight starts due to back stiffness before making a pinch-hit appearance in the series finale.

• Perez has been extremely generous with the home-run ball since the All-Star break, as the 28-year-old has been taken deep 11 times in his last five outings after surrendering seven in his first 18. Perez allowed three homers for the second time in as many starts on Wednesday in addition to a season-high seven runs overall over six innings in an 11-7 setback against Atlanta. Lorenzo Cain is 1-for-8 in his career versus Perez, who was gouged for eight runs on nine hits — including two homers — in his lone start against Milwaukee.

• Anderson permitted two or fewer runs in his ninth straight start last Tuesday but walked away with his fourth straight no-decision and seventh in that stretch after his 5 2/3-inning performance at Pittsburgh. “I know what I can do when I’m on the mound,” the 31-year-old said. “You try to take the positives of everything. I’ve done that my whole life. It pays off.” Anderson sports a 4-2 mark and has limited the opposition to a .211 batting average at Miller Park.

• Milwaukee LF Ryan Braun is 12-for-33 with five extra-base hits, four RBIs and five runs scored in his last 11 contests.

• Minnesota’s Nelson Cruz, whose 32 homers are tied with fellow OF Max Kepler for the team lead, learned that he will not require surgery after being examined Monday in New York.

• Brewers OF Ben Gamel is 2-for-20 with 10 strikeouts in his last 10 games.
