Anthony Davis and the Los Angeles Lakers look for their 15th victory in the past 16 games when they open a five-game road trip against the Orlando Magic on Wednesday. Davis reached the 50-point mark for the fourth time in his career while leading the Lakers to a 142-125 win over the visiting Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday. Davis was 20-of-29 from the field and made all 10 of his free-throw attempts while scoring a season-best 50 in the easy win. “The team was telling me, they weren’t telling me how much I had, but they were saying, ‘Get 50,'” Davis told reporters. “Usually I don’t really pay attention. I just go out there and play and try to get the win. But it’s hard when your teammates are constantly reminding you, ‘Go get 50! Go get 50!’ So they made sure I was constantly reminded.”

Orlando had a four-game winning streak halted when it lost 110-101 to the host Milwaukee Bucks on Monday. “We gave up too many hustle points and second-chance points and that was a big factor in the game,” Magic power forward Aaron Gordon said afterward. “We cut those down and we feel like we can compete with this team.”

The partnership of Davis and forward LeBron James continues to flourish and the duo combined for 82 points in the victory over Minnesota as James contributed 32 points and 13 assists. “For me and A.D., it starts with us,” James told reporters. “If we’re on the same page it makes it a lot easier for the rest of the ballclub, and that’s both on and off the floor. So we’re just trying to lead by example, lead by command, lead by our voices, lead by our play and see where it takes us. It’s been pretty good for us so far.” James has five triple-doubles this season after recording eight in 55 games last season.

The loss to Milwaukee was just the second in the past seven games for Orlando, which shot just 38 percent from the field. Gordon was just 3-of-12 shooting while tallying 10 points and point guard Markelle Fultz was 4-of-14 from the floor while scoring 13 points. Shooting guards Evan Fournier (26 points) and Terrence Ross (23) each drained four 3-pointers versus the Bucks and Fournier has been superb while averaging 25.6 points and making 21-of-38 3-pointers over the last five games.

The Lakers dropped 10 of their past 11 visits to Orlando.

Ross is averaging 22 points over the past three games while knocking down 11-of-22 3-pointers.

Los Angeles PG Rajon Rondo (hamstring) hopes to return after sitting out against the Timberwolves.
