Michigan heads to Nebraska on a five-game winning streak after dispatching of No. 25-ranked Ohio State, 90-71 on New Year’s Eve. During the five-game run, Michigan is averaging 84.6 points per game on 51.8 percent shooting. U-M has reached the 90-point mark three times over the last five games, including a pair of back-to-back 93-point performances against Akron (Dec. 5) and Wisconsin (Dec. 9). Michigan’s three double-digit scorers are also scoring above their season averages over the span – Naz Hillmon (21.6 ppg), Leigha Brown (18.2 ppg) and Emily Kiser (12.8 ppg).

For the second straight year, Michigan has won 12 of its first 13 games for a 12-1 record. It is the best mark through 13 games in program history.

Michigan is off to a 3-0 start in Big Ten action for the second straight season after getting a 19-point win over Ohio State last time out. It is just the third time in school history Michigan has started 3-0 in conference action – all coming under 10th-year head coach Kim Barnes Arico. U-M started 4-0 in 2012-13, 5-0 in 2020-21 and now 3-0 in 2021-22.

Michigan is heading back to Nebraska for the first time since the 2019-20 season after just facing the Huskers in Ann Arbor last season. Prior to just playing at Crisler last season, U-M had gone to Nebraska for four straight seasons – 2016-17 through 2019-20. It will also mark the first time senior Leigha Brown will face her former team. Brown, who will use her extra year of eligibility next season at Michigan, spent her first two seasons at Nebraska (2018-19 and 2019-20). She did not play last year against the Huskers.

Michigan and Nebraska enter the contest as the top two teams in the conference in rebounding margin. Michigan is tops in the B1G with a +9.2 margin, with the Huskers second at +8.6. U-M has two players in the top 10 of the Big Ten in rebounding in Naz Hillmon (4th, 9.2 rpg) and Emily Kiser (7th, 8.4 rpg) while Nebraska’s Jaz Shelley comes in at No. 10 with 6.8 caroms per contest.

Senior Emily Kiser has found herself in the starting lineup as a senior and she is taking advantage of the opportunity. She has a pair of double-doubles on the season after going for 18 points and a career-best 15 rebounds against No. 25 Ohio State (Dec. 31). Kiser is third on the team in scoring at 10.5 points per game and second in rebounding at 8.4 boards per contest. Her 137 points scored this season is more than in any other season, topping the 88 points scored during her sophomore season. Kiser, one of two Wolverines to start all 13 games, is also averaging a career-high 31.0 minutes per game.

Nebraska dropped its first contest of the season last time out, falling at Michigan State by three (72-69) on Dec. 30. The Huskers are averaging 82.4 points per game on 46.5 percent shooting while allowing 56.7 points per game on 33.4 percent shooting. Nebraska is the epitome of a balanced team, with seven players averaging at least 7.0 points per game and three double-figure scorers in Jaz Shelley (13.8 ppg), Sam Haiby (10.6 ppg) and Isabelle Bourne (10.2 ppg). Ten Huskers average at least 10 minutes played per game.
