The top-ranked and top-seeded UConn women’s basketball team (27-1) faces fifth-ranked and second-seeded Baylor (28-2) in the NCAA Elite Eight on Monday at 7 p.m. ET. The game will air on ESPN and 97-9 ESPN.

UConn notched a 92-72 win over No. 5-seed Iowa in the Sweet 16 on Saturday. Junior Christyn Williams scored 27 points to lead the Huskies offensively. Junior Evina Westbrook (17 points, 10 assists, nine rebounds) and freshman Paige Bueckers (18 points, nine rebounds, eight assists) each nearly had triple-doubles vs. the Hawkeyes. Freshman Aaliyah Edwards notched 18 points as she’s averaging 18.0 per game in the NCAA Tournament.

UConn advanced to its 15th straight Elite Eight. The Huskies are looking to make their record 13th-straight Final Four appearance.

UConn is 4-4 all-time vs. Baylor. The Lady Bears have won the last two meetings between the teams. The first-ever meeting between UConn and Baylor came in the 2010 Final Four in the Alamodome. The Huskies won the game, 70-50, and went on the win the NCAA Championship. UConn and Baylor were scheduled to play on Jan. 7 in Waco, but the game was canceled due to COVID-19.

Baylor advanced to the Elite Eight with a 78-75 OT win over sixth-seeded Michigan. NaLyssa Smith scored 24 points on 11-for-11 shooting. Smith leads Baylor with 18.2 points and 8.8 rebounds per game. The Lady Bears are the defending national champions, having won the last NCAA Championship in 2019. Baylor leads the nation in field-goal percentage defense (31.7) and rebound margin (+19.7).
