Current odds:

#7 Maryland Terrapins: (TBD)

Seton Hall Pirates: (TBD)

• The line for this game is Maryland by 5.5 points.

• Eighth-ranked Maryland looks to bounce back from its first loss of the season when it visits Seton Hall on Thursday. The Terrapins committed a season-high 20 turnovers in the 76-69 road loss to Penn State on Dec. 10, falling one short of matching the program record for most wins to start a season, and hope their batteries are recharged after a week’s rest by avenging a 78-74 loss to the Pirates last year. “We have a long ways to go as a team and sometimes when you keep winning you don’t realize it,” Maryland coach Mark Turgeon told reporters. “Hopefully our guys will realize we have a long ways to go to get where we need to be.” Seton Hall have suffered back-to-back defeats to Iowa State (76-66) and Rutgers (68-48) to tumble out of the Top 25.

• The Pirates had won four of their previous five games before being held to an average of 57 points during the skid, and they hope to turn their fortunes around by knocking off a ranked opponent for the first time this season following losses to No. 18 Michigan State and No. 10 Oregon on Nov. 14 and Nov. 27, respectively. “I still have the same amount of confidence in this team as I did three months ago,” Seton Hall coach Kevin Willard told reporters. “I’m going to be patient and we’re going to figure this out.”

• Anthony Cowan Jr. scored 16 points and pulled down six rebounds in the loss to Penn State to move within five points of overtaking Greg Manning (1,561) for 17th place on the program’s all-time scoring list. Eric Ayala added 15 points and six rebounds while Aaron Wiggins tallied 13 points and eight boards, but it wasn’t enough as the Terrapins were limited to 33.3 percent shooting from the floor. Jalen Smith finished with 12 points, 11 rebounds and three blocked shots against the Nittany Lions to register his third consecutive double-double.

• Quincy McKnight was the lone Pirate player to finish in double figures as he scored 11 points, but he committed five of the team’s 14 turnovers in the loss to Rutgers. Myles Powell, who is averaging a team-high 21.2 points per game, suffered a concussion in the first half of the Garden State Hardwood Classic, and is out indefinitely while second-leading scorer Sandro Mamukelashvili will miss his second straight contest due to a wrist injury. Anthony Nelson added eight points while Jared Rhoden and Powell tallied six points each versus Rutgers.

• Willard is 7-5 all-time against Big Ten opponents.

• Smith ranked tied for fifth nationally with seven double-doubles entering Wednesday.

• Maryland has held eight opponents to under 40 percent shooting from the field.
