The line for this game is Oklahoma by 2.5 points.

After enduring its worst home defeat in conference play since 1963, Oklahoma will look to get back on track Saturday as it visits a struggling West Virginia team. The Sooners had no answers for Baylor’s zone defense in a 77-47 setback on Monday as they were held to season lows in scoring and field-goal percentage (.269). “Not much from our direction, not much positive,” Oklahoma coach Lon Kruger told reporters after his team’s third loss in five games. “(The Bears) had their way on both ends of the floor. We didn’t do what we have to do to fight that off. We were way too tentative to match their physicality.” Not one Sooners player managed to hit half their field goal attempts in Monday’s setback and, outside of Kristian Doolittle’s team-high 12 points on 5-of-12 shooting, the rest of the team’s starters combined to go 5-for-29 from the floor and 2-for-15 from 3-point range.

West Virginia coach Bob Huggins did not hold back after his squad lost 93-68 to No. 20 Iowa State on Wednesday – its third consecutive double-digit defeat. “This team gets loose balls less than any team I’ve ever had,” Huggins told reporters after the frustrating loss that saw a pair of technical fouls lead to the coach’s ejection late in the second half. “They offensive-rebound it less than any team I’ve ever had. When you couple that with not being very good shooters, that’s a formula for being (9-12).”

Thanks in part to turning over the ball nine times during the first 20 minutes, the Sooners were held to their lowest scoring half of the season on Monday as they trailed the Bears 39-21 at the break. Sitting fourth in the conference with 16.3 points per game, senior Christian James has totaled 13 in his last two Big 12 contests and suffered through his worst shooting performance of the season (2-for-9) in Monday’s loss. James, a 6-4 guard, is grabbing a team-high 7.3 boards per game as Oklahoma tops the conference in rebounding (40) – just ahead of the second-place Mountaineers (39.7).

It’s hard to argue with Huggins’ assessment of his squad as the Mountaineers are last in the Big 12 in field-goal percentage (42.1), field-goal percentage defense (44) and steals (5.8). Two categories the Mountaineers did dominate Wednesday were turnovers, committing 19 that led to 29 points by Iowa State, and fouls, as they were whistled for 26 and watched the Cyclones go 29-for-33 from the free-throw line. Esa Ahmad, who leads the team in scoring (12.4 points), recorded 11 during Wednesday’s loss to become the 53rd player in school history to reach 1,000 for his career.

The Sooners leads the all-time series 9-7, but the Mountaineers have won four of the last five meetings – including an 89-76 home victory last season.

West Virginia G James Bolden leads his team in scoring during conference play (14.6 points) but missed Wednesday’s loss with an ankle injury he suffered against top-ranked Tennessee last weekend.

The Mountaineers enter February ranked 328th out of 351 Division I teams with 15.8 turnovers per game.
