• Portland Timbers will be aiming to go one better than their devastating penalty shootout MLS Cup final defeat to New York City last season by replicating their success of 2015. Having finished fourth in the Western Conference, they will be disappointed with currently ninth, although it is only early days. Portland started the season playing with a 4-4-2 formation, before switching to a 4-2-3-1 for the last two games, something unlikely to change for the game against Orlando as it is their preferred formation as well.

• Orlando City finished sixth in the Western Conference last time out, although they will be hoping the goals that new addition Facundo Torres should bring, as well as Alexandre Pato finding his feet, will be able to propel them up the table. While Facundo Torres will be a miss, Orlando will be hoping that Ercan Kara will be able to get off the mark for the season and replicate his form for Rapid Vienna before the switch, where he had scored nine in his last 17 in the Austrian Bundesliga.

• Yimmi Chara is undoubtedly the one to watch for Portland, having scored two and assisted one in his first four games, and the Timbers will be hoping that he can continue this fine form Sunday and beyond.
