• Getafe suffered a setback last time out following a much-improved run of form under the recently appointed Quique Sanchez Flores. The Madrid-based side lost 1-0 to Sevilla in what was an admirable effort, and that followed wins over both Real Madrid and Osasuna. The defeat did see them lose some ground in the battle to beat the drop, and they are now just a point clear of the drop.

• Granada travel to Madrid on the back of a fine performance in matchday 20, drawing with Barcelona thanks to Antonio Puertas’ late goal, the winger lashing home from close range. That draw followed a draw with Elche, a win over Atletico Madrid and a win over Mallorca. Robert Moreno’s men are now unbeaten in seven La Liga games, and that run has seen them rise to 13th in the table, despite a less than desirable start. The Andalusians are now seven points clear of the drop, and they will be hoping to extend that gap further.

• They may well have to settle for a draw here, though, against a Getafe side who have become very hard to beat of late.
