• Besiktas recorded an important away victory as they beat Ankaragucu 3-2 last time out. Aside from the fan violence following the final whistle, the other talking point about the game was Ismael’s bizarre decision to start with Bilgin in goal. The French manager said Bilgin’s performance in training meant he deserved to start, but the inexperienced goalkeeper’s match performance was rather unimpressive so we can expect Destanoglu to retain his place. Besiktas have been nothing short of remarkable going forward in recent weeks. However, the question here will be how their attacking will be impacted by the return of Ghezzal whose tempo and work-rate is nowhere near Alli’s.

• Basaksehir comfortably beat Alanyaspor 2-0 last time out. Following that win, they recorded a rather impressive 4-0 away win at Hearts in the UEFA Conference League. Belozoglu’s team is now working like a machine and with the departure of players that are not fond of hard work, such as Chadli and Crivelli, they have become an even tougher side to beat. Belozoglu will be wary of Besiktas’ attacking prowess and taking into account the fact his side will be more tired than the hosts, will be more conservative than usual.

• These two are very balanced sides and a draw wouldn’t be a big surprise.
