• Elina Svitolina fought for two hours and 32 minutes under a scorching sun, rallied from 2-4 in the deciding set and served to stay in the match twice. The fourth seed eventually survived Sorana Cirstea, 4-6, 6-4, 7-6, to continue her spectacular season on the American hard courts.
