Leeds can welcome back defender Pontus Jansson for the visit to Liverpool on Tuesday after he missed their 2-1 win over Rotherham at the weekend through suspension. Liam Bridcutt and Pablo Hernandez are both injured, however. Garry Monk has no real reason to make any changes and should go with his best available XI at Anfield.

Adam Lallana is nearing a return to action but isn’t expected to feature until Liverpool’s league match with Bournemouth at the weekend. Daniel Sturridge missed out at the weekend with a slight calf injury and may not be risked here. Philippe Coutinho is out for the foreesable future after picking up a serious ankle injury in their 2-0 win over Sunderland at the weekend.

Liverpool haven’t lost since the second game of the season. They have won 11 of the following 14 matches in all competitions and come into this fixture having kept back-to-back clean sheets in the Premier League for the first time since February.

After an initial wobble, Leeds are also in great form under Garry Monk. Their only defeat in their last seven matches came against Championship leaders Newcastle and they have won each of their last three matches on the road.

This is the first meeting between the two teams since 2009 and the first at Anfield since 2003 when Liverpool. It will be a terrific atmopshere. Monk has lost all five of his matches against Liverpool in the past and Leeds could fall short again here despite their good form.
