• Austria’s manager Irene Fuhrmann has plenty to reflect on ahead of this contest after her side were narrowly defeated 1-0 by England in their Euro 2022 opener on Wednesday. Despite being big outsiders on the day to the tournament hosts, the Austrians put up a spirited performance to fall to just their second defeat in their previous nine matches (W7). That reversal was only the second time they had failed to score in a game since November 2020, with the only other occasion also arriving in a 1-0 away loss to the Three Lionesses!

• Northern Ireland didn’t get the dream result they would have wanted on their tournament debut last time out. In spite of the 4-1 mauling at the hands of Norway, in which they conceded three first-half goals, the Green and White Army’s determined performance in the second half could provide inspiration for a result here.

• Austrian goalkeeper Manuela Zinsberger has been in superb form, having kept three clean sheets in her last five international appearances. Meanwhile, Northern Ireland’s 37-year-old defender Julie Nelson will hope lightning strikes twice after scoring Northern Ireland’s first-ever goal at a major finals last time out.
